Pakistan is considered as an important ally in the current international coalition against terrorism. Looking back on Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism against the nations within and outside its borders, make Pakistan a ‘shaky ally.’ What are the challenges of including Pakistan into this equation? How does the promise of peace and justice can be safeguarded? UK being a major leader in this effort has a special responsibility to keep the ground realities of peoples of Pakistan in her mind. This seminar would present different perspectives on the positioning Pakistan in this war against terrorism. This seminar will be in two sessions:

Sardar Attaullah Mengal: is the central leader of Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement
(PONM), and a former Chief Minister of Balochistan.
Altaf Hussain: Leader and Founder MQM (Muttahida Quami Movement) a political party of Pakistan.
Rubina
Shaikh, Ph.D: is the vice-chairperson of World Sindhi Congress, a UK/US based human rights advocacy group focusing on situations in Sindh and Pakistan.
George Anthony: is an editor of
Liberation - a monthly journal published by non-governmental organization also named Liberation. This organization has supported to many anti-colonial movements since last five decades.

Role of liberation movements and progressive forces within Pakistan’s to safeguard common global interests.
Scope of international human rights organizations to promote peaceful struggles within Pakistan.
Ways and means to create more awareness about the tolerance and prevention of religious fundamentalism that may result as a backlash to this ‘war against terrorism.’
