BSO warns govt against building Awaran garrison

A faction of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has accused the government of hatching a plot to build a garrison in Awaran district in what it said was “an attempt to crush a movement against exploitation of Baloch resources”.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Dad Shah Baloch, zonal president of BSO-Aman, said that a plot of 800 acres had been allotted in the name of a veterinary hospital but from the huge boundary walls encircling the property it seemed that a fort and not a hospital was planned.

Mr Baloch said the cantonment was being established in the middle of Behzad and Terteeg Highway connecting Awaran and Gwadar. According to him, the location has been chosen for its geo-political significance.

Mr Baloch criticized the anti-Baloch policies of the rulers and pledged that Baloch people would not allow “exploiters to loot the resources of the motherland”.

The BSO leader called upon the government to abandon plans of “usurpation of Baloch resources” and warned that if the interests of the local population were not looked after the Baloch people would use all means possible to protect their rights and resources. 18.11.05
