ANP
leader Asfandyar Wali for peaceful means on Wana, Balochistan conflicts
Awami National Party leader Senator Asfandar Yar Wali has said the use of force to resolve Wana and Balochistan crisis had serious repercussions for the national solidarity and country's territorial integrity and it should be stopped forthwith in the larger national interest.
The ANP leader told private TV network that current rulers were committing the same blunder committed by the then government in Decca.
"A '71 like situation is being created in Southern Waziristan and Balochistan", he said.
He said government should try to resolve Wana crisis and problems confronting the Baloch through peaceful means since the use of force would deteriorate the situation.
He reiterated Kalabagh dam should not be built as three provincial assemblies had adopted resolutions against the project.
He said the government should carefully listen to the reservations of the smaller provinces and should abandon the Kalabagh Dam construction plan.
He also opposed the setting up of new garrisons in Balochistan and central government should respect the resolution adopted by the Balochistan Assembly against the plan. 29.9.04 |
