New Delhi, Aug 28: Following is the timeline of the Balochistan struggle.

2006: Pak Army kills Nawab Bugti and over two dozen rebels

2005: Nawab Akbar Bugti goes into hiding soon after the Kohlu incident

2005: Rebels fire rockets that land about 300 yards from President Musharraf while he was visiting the nearby town of Kohlu

2005: Fresh fighting breaks between rebel leaders led by Bugti and the Army after Pakistani forces were deployed to Dera Bugti

1984: Martial Law is lifted following Junejo becoming Pakistan PM

1978: General Zia-ul-Haq appoints General Rahimuddin Khan as Governor and Martial Law Administrator of Balochistan

1976: Short on ammunition rebels withdraw

1974: Over 15,000 Balochs fight Pakistan Army and Air Forces. Iran supports Pak actions

1973: Zulfikhar Ali Bhutto refuses to negotiate with rebel leaders. Sporadic fighting between Army and rebels starts.

1971: Baloch nationalists demand greater autonomy after secession of Bangladesh

1958: Nawab Nawroj Khan starts armed struggle against Pakistan. Nawroj was later arrested and his sons executed

1956: Governor General Sikandar Mirza dissolves all the states of Balochistan and declares them to be a part of West Pakistan

1948: Prince Karim Khan leads separatist movement against Pakistan government

1948: Pro-Congress Anjuman-i-Watan Party, headed by Samad Achakzai, declared unlawful

1948: Government of Pakistan takes control of Balochistan

1887: Britain conquers part of Balochistan now in Pakistan
