US Confirms firing on a helicopter near Panjgur

WASHINGTON: Pentagon confirmed on Tuesday that one of its helicopter came under fire near Panjgur in Balochistan during the weekend.

A Pentagon spokesperson said that the US military helicopter came under hostile fire in Pakistan over the weekend while refueling at a Pakistani air base during an operation to recover a second helicopter that had crashed on the night of a commando raid into Afghanistan, the Pentagon disclosed Tuesday.

The other helicopter was crashed while carrying out a raid in Kandhar province of Afghanistan. Al-Jazeera TV, the only TV channel broadcasting war events in Afghanistan broadcast a footage showing Taliban standing by a wreckage of a warplane or helicopter.

However, US has been persistently denying that no plane or helicopter was shot down during the almost three weeks of air strikes in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, US Vice President Dick Cheney warned Tuesday that the war on terror is likely to take a bigger toll in the United States than among US forces deployed in the campaign.

According to reports United Nations officials have confirmed that the US bombed a hospital in Herat where according to Taliban’s claims about 100 in-house patients were killed. The US had earlier denied the Taliban’s allegations. By Balochistanpost.com 23. 10.01
