Marri tribesmen not
involved in subversion: Hakim
QUETTA: A former central leader of Balochistan National Party, Dr. Abdul
Hakeem Lehri has strongly criticized the government for torturing the Marri
tribesmen and demanded that political issue should be settled through
negotiations. Speaking at a Press conference here on Thursday he claimed
that Marri tribesmen were not involved in any subversive activities and
maintained that according to the Press reports an influential personality in
the provincial government was backing the terrorists who were involved in
the rocket firing in Kohlu area.
He further stated that after the change of
the government on October 12, 1999 the people of the province thought that
new rulers will adopt positive attitude towards Balochistan’s issues but it
seems that the present regime was not serious to resolve the problems being
faced by the people of province. Dr. Lehri said that people were thought
that government will brought all the corrupt political leaders and
bureaucrats to the task through real accountability process who were
involved in loot and plundering the national wealth but people witnessed
that such people were not even arrested and government put real people
representatives behind the bar.
He said that government has launched an
operation in various areas of the province including Kohlu agency and in
this connection non-Balochistanis have been posted in these areas so they
could continue such operation with out any hurdle. Dr. Hakeem Lehri further
claimed that a group of investors in the name of investment in coal-mines of
Chamlang area which include gun runners and smugglers from Balochistan and
out-side the province were brought to just to pit the people of Balochistan
against each other.
He said that these people involved in subversion
activities. He said that government has implicated veteran leaders of
Balochistan in false case and has put them behind the bar. He said that
these personalities and other people of Marri tribes were not involved in
such activities.
The former leader of BNP while referring the unemployment
issue in the province said that despite have agreement PPL and other
agencies were not providing jobs to the educated youths of the province in
these institutions. He said that government was pushing the country towards
civil war, which would be very harmful for the country. Replying to a
question he claimed that it was government agencies who were involved in
rocket attacks and bombs blast just to justify a grand operation in
Balochistan.
He said that if government was not involve in these activities
then it should produce real accused before the people in this regard. He
urged upon the print media to play its role for exposing the government on
the issue Dr. Lehri demanded those all-false cases against Nawab Khair
Bukhsh Marri and other tribesmen should be withdrawn and all disputed issues
including exploration of Oil and Gas should be resolved through
negotiations. He said that no issue could be resolved through state power.
