Proper medical facilities for Nawab Marri demanded

QUETTA : The Marri Ittehad has called upon the Provincial Government to provid adequate medical facilities to the Nationalist Baloch leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri in prison. The Ittehad in a Press release, signed by Mr. Lashar Marri, said that the doctors have confirmed that Nawab Marri is suffering from a serious illness and he must undergo tests and proper treatment at the best hospital with all the modern facilities.

Mr. Lashar accused the Government for victimising Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri for  his political views and uncompromising stand on Balochistan’s resources. The Jail officials are also discriminating the Chief of Marri Tribe by disallowing people coming from remote areas to meet their tribal chief. He said that the ordinary tribesmen rounded up some 14 months back for no crime they committed were also shifted in the punishment Ward of the Quetta Prison.

One of them was handed over to CIA for torture, which he claimed was illegal and inhuman. Mr. Lashar said that similarly treatment is given to Mir Abdul Nabi, another co-accused of Nawab Marri who is jailed in Zhob, some 200 miles away from Quetta. His relatives and friends are denied meetings and interviews with him.
