Fewer people permitted to met Nawab Marri in 11 long months

QUETTA: A spokesman of Marri House has strongly contested the claim made by an official spokesman of the Provincial Government insisting that all the facilities are provided to Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, a senior most nationalist leader of Balochistan. In a statement, the spokesman said that Nawab Marri started suffering from kidney pains since September 2 and he did not make this complaint earlier.

Prior to it, Nawab Marri was taking food from the jail authorities and only after pain in his kidneys, he started taking simple and plain food from his residence and that too during the day time only, the spokesman said. In regard to interviews for Nawab Marri, the Marri House spokesman said that those interviewers should be asked about the difficulties faced by them. Were they rushed from pillar to post for having a meeting with Nawab Marri in jail, the spokesman posed a counter question to the Provincial Government.

He also disputed the claim that Nawab Marri was provided all the admissible facilities to A Class prisoners in Jail and according to the Jail Manual. The Marri House spokesman said that Nawab Sahib made a request for a more powerful bulb in his prison cell so that he should continue his late night studies and reading which was not honoured to this date. The spokesman criticised the Government for disallowing people from remote corners of Balochistan reaching the prison gate for a meeting with Nawab Marri and they all are denied such meetings.

The official spokesman expressed satisfaction over the improving health of Nawab Sahib. But the Marri House spokesman reiterated his stand that if any harm done to Nawab Sahib, the Government will be held responsible. Every Baloch is concerned at the falling health of Nawab Marri, he said. He claimed some of the Marri tribesmen lost their mental balance during questioning at the torture cells. He said that many more are still missing. The spokesman did not elaborate his points.
