Four FC men killed two injured in landmine blast 

Four Frontier Corps personnel killed two injured when their vehicle hit a landmine near Kahan area of Kohlu district, some 450 kilometers east of here on Tuesday. 

According to sources, a convoy of Frontier Corps was on its way to Kohlu when one of its vehicles hit the landmine, which had been planted in the middle of the road. 

The explosion blew up the vehicle, killing four and injuring two soldiers. All other vehicles in the convoy remained safe. "It was an anti-tank mine planted by Baloch Freedom fighters in the road linking Kohlu to Kahan. 

The killed and injured were taken to Sui by helicopter. Their condition of the injured was stated to be serious. The FC convoy had gone to Kahan on Tuesday morning. It met with the incident while returning to Kohlu, FC sources said. 

Meanwhile, railway traffic between Quetta and Zahidan reopened on Tuesday after engineers replaced damaged parts of the track that had been blown up in two recent bomb explosions. 30.3.05
Bomb Blast in Naushki 1 dead 10 FC personnel injured

A roadside bomb went off when a FC convoy was passing by at least 10 FC personnel were injured and one pedestrian was fatally wounded in the blast who later died in Naushki, 135km from Quetta on Sunday. 

According to details a remote controlled powerful bomb went off when a FC convoy was passing from there. The blast was so powerful that two pickups carrying FC personnel were totally destroyed, critically injuring 10 Frointer Corps personnel and killing a passerby. The explosion also damaged nearby shops. 

Baloch Liberation Army BLA claimed responsibility for the blast. 28.3.05
FC men killed and hurt in Barkhan 

Two Frontier Corps personnel killed and three were seriously injured in a rocket attack in Barkhan area of Balochistan, some 350km southeast of here, on Friday evening. 

According to reports, Baloch freedom Fighters fired at least 10 rockets from the mountains area, targeting the Frontier Corps fort on outskirts of Barkhan Township. Most of the rockets hit the fort and exploded killing two and injured three FC men. 

Sources said that Baloch freedom Fighters used 107 MM rockets and mortar shells for attacking the FC fort. 

Meanwhile, an unknown person, Azad Khan, claiming to be a spokesmen for the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), called the Quetta Press Club from an unknown place and took the responsibility of the attack. 27.3.05
Three bomb blasts on train line in Balochistan

At least three bomb blasts on train line near the town of Mach in Balochistan.

According to details, Baloch Freedom Fighters blew up train line to Quetta near Mach at least in three places. All train traffic was stopped to and from Quetta and other cities of the country. 

Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attacks and said it was in retaliation to Dera Bugti massacre, and vowed to continue. 24.3.05
Gas pipeline in Dhadar & PML-Q office in Turbat Blown up

Baloch Freedom Fighters blew up a main gas pipeline near Dhadar, about 140km from here on Tuesday night, disrupting gas supply from Shikarpur to many areas of Balochistan. 

Sources said the Baloch Freedom Fighters had placed a high explosive device along the pipeline, which went off with a big bang. Fortunately, the pipeline could not catch fire. "The blast destroyed four feet long piece of the pipeline," Levies Director Khair Mohammad Jamali told. He said a very powerful bomb was planted under the pipeline that went off at around 10.50pm. 

Soon after the explosion, the Sui Southern Gas Company officials rushed to the blast site and stopped supply from Shikarpur. Quetta would receive gas supply through an alternative pipeline. However, supply to some other areas of the province would be affected. Meanwhile, unknown persons in Turbat blew up an office of the Pakistan Muslim League Q on Tuesday night. 

According to reports, the building of the PML-Q district office was completely destroyed in the blast. No body was in the office when the bomb exploded, therefore no causality was reported. The blast was so powerful that it smashed windowpanes of the Turbat Press Club and other buildings in the area.

Three bomb explosions in Balochistan four injured

Four people were injured and a power line and a government office damaged in three separate bomb blasts in Balochistan province today. 

Two bomb blasts rocked the town of Turbat, Balochistan. In one of the blasts, close to the wall of the irrigation department, four people were injured. The other blast, near a paramilitary camp, damaged a main power line.

The third blast was in the provincial capital Quetta. It broke the windows of Federal Investigation Agency office but there were no casualties.

A spokesman for Baloch Liberation Front, who identified himself as Colonel Doda, called the Quetta Press Club and claimed responsibility for two bomb blasts in Turbat and Baloch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the bomb blasts in Quetta. 20.3.05
Two killed, 10 injured in train blasts 

Two persons were killed and 10 others injured on Friday when bombs exploded in two passenger trains running between Balochistan and Punjab most of them were army personnel and Government servants.

According to railway authorities, the first blast took place in an economy class bogey of the Quetta-bound Chiltan Express coming from Lahore. The bomb, planted in the toilet, exploded when the train was between Mach and Hirak. 

One person was killed on the spot and six others were injured. "The man killed in the train blast was an army personnel," sources said and identified him as Mehboob Alam who was coming from Faisalabad. 

The second blast occurred after about two hours in the Lahore-bound Chiltan Express going from Quetta. The bomb, also planted in the toilet of an economy class bogey, went off between Dhadar and Sibi at about 5.30pm, killing one passenger and injuring four others. 

It is worth mentioning that most of the passengers traveling on these trains are usually Punjabi government servants and their family members. 

BLA claimed responsibility for the attacks and said it was in retaliation of the Dera Bugti Operation by the Punjabi army. 19.3.05
Bomb blast damages high-voltage power line

A bomb explosion in Balochistan damaged a high-voltage power line and left several areas without electricity, a province recently hit by several such attacks. 

No one claimed responsibility for the blast late on Monday at Dera Murad Jamali town, 300km southeast of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, said area police officer Mohammed Bakhsh.

He said engineers had started repair work, but gave no other details. 16.3.05
Gas pipeline blown up 

Baloch Freedom Fighters blew up a 20-inch diameter pipe supplying gas to Karachi at the Garhi Hasan Canal, 50 kilometers northwest of Shikarpur in Sindh, en route to Pakistan Petroleum Ltd’s PPL Sui Gas Purification Plant in Sui, Balochistan, at about 1:00am on Sunday.

A bomb planted by Baloch Freedom Fighters blew up portion of the line on the Sindh-Balochistan border, causing a 10-foot deep ditch.

“The blast only damaged a reserve pipeline and it has failed to disrupt the gas supply,” Sukkur District Police Officer Din Muhammad told reporters. 14.03.05
Bomb blast near train station in Mach

The explosion occurred on the train tracks near the train station in Mach at noon on Sunday. 

Due to the explosion train track and underlay of the train line sustained damage. The police said that is a subversive activity to disrupt train service and damage government property.

The local administration said cases have been registered against unknown persons and investigations underway. 14.3.05
Gas pipeline blown up near Jacobabad

A powerful explosion destroyed a gas pipeline in Tangwani area, district Jacobabad, gas supply to many cities of Sindh and Punjab cutoff on Sunday morning.

Some unknown persons planted a bomb close to the pipeline, supplying gas to Karachi, Kandkot and other parts of Sindh and Punjab cutoff the explosion took place in the jurisdiction of the Ghulam Sarwar Sarki police station, which exploded early in the morning. 

As a result, a 20 inch gas pipeline was destroyed. Heavy contingent of police and other law-enforcement agencies reached the spot and cordoned off the area. 

A powerful explosion occurred near Garhi Hasan Canal, 50 km from Shikarpur, en route PPL’s Sui Gas Purification Plant in Sui.

According to  sources, the explosion cause damage to the piling, carrying the main SSGC pipeline, the pipeline was damaged and a crater was caused in the ground. As a result, there was leakage and fire in the gas line.

Due to the attack gas supply was disrupted and now an alternative SSGC transmission line is being used to take gas to the Sui Plant, in place of the pipeline that was damaged in the blast. The attackers disrupted the flow of gas in the SSGC transmission network and create disturbance for the government. 14.3.05

Grenade attack on the house of session judge in Kharan

An unknown person hurled a hand grenade at the house of a session judge at 11:30pm in Kharan causing damage to the house and shattering windowpanes of nearby houses.

The explosion was heard from several blocks, police and the local administration cordoned of the area and started investigations. Case has been registered against unknown persons. No arrests have been made so far. 14.3.05

Bomb blasts rock Quetta and Kalat 

Two powerful bomb blasts rocked Quetta and telephone exchange blown up in Kalat town on Thursday night. However, no causality but damage to property was reported in the explosions. 

Police sources said unidentified people planted a bomb with timer in an open place near Jinnah Town that went off at around 10pm. The blast created a crater. 

Another bomb exploded in Babu Muhalla in Kalat, blowing up a telephone exchange on Thursday night, some 160km south-east of Quetta late in the evening. The bomb had been placed near the house of a local government official, Mohammad Ishaq . 

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attacks. 11.3.05

Five rockets hit Kohlu and two bomb blasts in Mach and Jhal Magsi 

Baloch freedom fighters fired five rockets on Kohlu, mean while two more bombs exploded in Mach train line and Jhal Magsi Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDC) camp and one bomb defused in Jhal Magsi area.

According to details, the Gawal dam in Kohlu area of Balochistan escaped a disaster when one of the rockets fired by Baloch freedom fighters hit the dam's embankment causing damage to it. 

The wall received damage but the structure of the dam remained safe, a senior official of the Kohlu administration said, adding that Baloch freedom fighters had fired five rockets early in the morning. 

Another rocket landed and exploded near the office of the District Coordination Officer Kohlu (DCO). However, no loss of life or serious damage was reported in the second rocket attack. 

Informed sources said that the Baloch freedom fighters also tried to hit Wapda's grid station in Kohlu town but the rocket missed the target and exploded in an open place. Two more rockets exploded in the township. No causality was reported in the explosions. 

In other incidences two more bombs exploded in Mach and Jhal Magsi. According to details the blast in Jhal Magsi happened near an Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDC) only 80meters from an oil well, bomb disposal team claimed to have defused another bomb planted in the same area.

The bomb was planted near offices for technicians at the gas field owned by the state-run Oil and Gas Development Corporation, a local government administrator Aslam Raisani said. The explosion left a 3-feet crater at the site damaging other facilities and the well. 

Another bomb exploded the same night near the railroad in Mach, a town about 40km south of Quetta. The blast damaged the track and disrupted the trains. 10.3.05

Bomb blast in Quetta Smungli housing scheme 

A powerful bomb explosion was heard at 9:45pm near a park in Smungli housing scheme in Quetta. Windowpanes of nearby houses shattered. 

According to locals the explosion was so powerful that it was heard from several kilometers. The explosion ripped apart several meters of fencing and shattered windowpanes of nearby buildings.

Rockets fired on FC post in Kohlu

In Kohlu district, some 350 km from the provincial capital, unknown armed men fired seven rockets at a FC check post, causing damage to the post and panic amongst the Frointer Corps personnel, in a fresh upsurge of violence in Balochistan.

The local people of Kohlu said at least seven rockets were fired from Jindran Mountain, which landed in and near an FC check post. The rockets severely damaged the post creating deep craters in it but no loss to life reported.

The local administration claimed to have started investigation into the rocket firing after registering a case against unknown armed men. 7.3.05
Sui phone exchange torched

The telephone exchange of Sui was set ablaze by unknown men.

Sources said unknown men barged into the telephone exchange, established in a container, and torched it after sprinkling it with petrol in the wee hours. However, no loss of life was reported.

DCO Dera Bugti Samad Lasi, when asked, told The News that no staff of PTCL was present at the time of the incident.

Following the incident, telephonic link of Dera Bugti with rest of the country has been cut off. The exchange had a capacity of 1,000 lines.

Independent sources said officials of Dera Bugti came to know about the fire when an official of the PTCL informed them at around 8:00 am. 7.3.05
Blast hits Pakistan-Iran rail link in Balochistan 

Suspected underground nationalist organization BLA in Pakistan’s troubled southwest province of Balochistan blew up a key railway track linking the country with neighboring Iran. 

The blast on Wednesday was the third in a month to hit the line from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, to Zahidan in neighboring Iran.

A scheduled weakly train between the two cities left early Thursday after engineers worked overnight to repair the track, Pakistan Railways Chief Controller Mohammad Shoaib told. The train line was blown up at Naushki, some 150 kilometers (94 miles) west of Quetta on Wednesday.

Balochistan is in the grip of an escalating rebellion by nationalist forces demanding right of self-determination, end to Punjabi domination and pillage of Baloch nation. BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. 3.3.05
Three blasts shook Quetta 

Three powerful explosions were the late hours of the evening in different parts of Quetta. 

While the exact locations of two explosions were yet unclear meanwhile the third blast occurred in the Railway Colony on the Joint Road on Wednesday night.

The explosive device, planted near the quarter of a railway police personnel, which went off at around 10:55pm. The boundary wall and the quarter were damaged and windowpanes of nearby houses shattered. However, police constable Raiz Hussain and members of his family were unhurt. 

Two more powerful explosions were heard in the city later in the night but the police declined to give details and locations of the blasts. BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. 3.3.05
Bomb blast in provincial capital and FC post attacked in Kolpur

Unknown men fired two rockets and resorted to small arms fire on an check-post of the Frontier Constabulary in Kolpur, while a bomb blast shattered windowpanes in Quetta on Tuesday.

The rockets fired in Dasht area of Kolpur landed near the check-post. Official sources said the armed men also opened indiscriminate fire on the check-post. No loss of life was reported.

Officials of Mach administration and Levies force rushed to the spot and started a probe into the incident. A case has been registered against the unknown assailants. In Quetta, a powerful bomb exploded at Wahdat Colony near Stop No 3 on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said a bomb was planted by unknown terrorists in an open space near the colony, which went off with a big bang, smashing windowpanes of nearby buildings. No loss of life was reported.

Meanwhile, condemning the police operation in Marri Camp, the leaders of an alliance of four Baloch nationalist groups have appealed to the courts of law to take suo moto notice of the police action in order to provide justice to the "innocent" residents of the camp.

They also appealed to human rights organisations to raise their voice against what they called "state terrorism". Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, provincial president of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Mir Humayun Khan Marri alleged that the government was making character assassination of veteran Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri, which is intolerable.

Mir Humayun, flanked by opposition Leader in the Balochistan Assembly Mir Kachkol Ali Baloch of the National Party, BNP’s Senator Sana Baloch and others, said the government wanted to evacuate Marri tribesmen from the site of the Marri camp. He warned that if even a single person was evacuated forcibly from the Marri camp, the government would be responsible for the consequences. 2.3.05
Bomb blast near Quetta police station

Rockets were fired on a check post of the Frontier Corps in Kangri area of Loralai district on Tuesday night, while a powerful bomb blast near a police post on the Brewery Road in the provincial caused panic in the area. 

According to police, the blast near the police post was caused by a 2-kg bomb, which created a 2-foot deep ditch, damaged a wall of the post and smashed windowpanes of nearby houses and buildings. 

In another incident, a WAPDA lineman suffered serious injuries in a landmine blast in Barkhan area. FC check post sustained serious damaged in the rocket attack. 

Meanwhile, police continued their search operation in the Marri camp on Tuesday and made false claims of recovering more weapons, ammunition and explosives. 

It is a matter of grave concern that the police during the so-called searches more houses in New Kahan (Marri camp) have beaten up women and children and un lawfully conducting search’s without a magistrate and planting arms and explosive to show that they have recovered it in the search.

It is worth mentioning that Balochistan lawyers association, all political parties, leader opposion Balochistan assembly, Baloch students organization and other organizations.

Deputy Inspector General Police Rafi Pervez Bhatti said adding that the operation would continue for a complete clean-up of the area but in fact it in “Operation Wipeout” of the Baloch people and specifically New Kahan (Marri Camp) Quetta. 1.3.05
Bomb, Grenade, Rocket and Missile attacks in Quetta

Several massive explosions have occurred in Quetta in last 24 hours as unidentified persons planted bombs fired rockets and hurled a grenade at the premises of Radio Pakistan Quetta. 

According to details during the last 24 hours at least 7 explosions were herd in different parts of Quetta. It is reported that at least one missile hit the army installations in the contentment area but the details not wet known. Bomb blasts have occurred in the train station, near the office of IG prisons, FC headquarters and several other places and a hand grenade that was thrown at the Radio Pakistan building windowpane of nearby buildings were broken.

According to the official report no loss of life has been reported. 

It is worth remembering that DIG Quetta Rafi Pervaiz Bhatti while giving a press conference just one day before the recent wave of attacks had claimed that attacks on government installations were carried out by just a few people and who had nothing to do with Baloch struggle and the mastermind behind these attacks had been arrested and the organizations back been broken and declared that no such attacks will occur in the future. 

Mean while Mr. Azad Baloch spokesman of Baloch Liberation Army BLA called and claimed responsibility for the attacks. 27.2.05
Explosion near gas pipeline in Kandkhot

Attempt to blow up a gas pipeline near Saifal Shakh, Karampur police station jurisdiction, Kandhkot in Sindh, on Saturday. 

A bomb blast created a several feet deep crater near the gas pipeline but little damage was caused to the pipeline. 

Residents of nearby villages said the explosion was so intense that it shook the earth. On receiving the information, DPO Din Mohammad Baloch and TPOs of Kandhkot and Tangwani rushed to the scene. 

They also called bomb disposal squad officials from Sukkur. He said the bomb contained powder chemicals. He further said a case would be registered after investigation. 20.2.05
Electric supply towers blown up in District Barkhan 

Main electric towers blown in District Barkhan resulting in, plunging of most of northern-east Balochistan into darkness. 

According to details Baloch Freedom Fighters blew up at least two main electric towers in Barkhan near Kohlu. 17.2.05 
Several rockets fired on FC check post in Kohlu

Frontier corps check post targeted in Kohlu, severe damage reported to the post but no casualty reported.

According to sources, a frontier corps check post was targeted by Baloch freedom fighters late last night by rockets. The check post sustained sever damage but no casualty was reported. It is believed that that the FC personnel abandon the post as soon as the rocket fires started, thus no casualties reported. 15.2.05
Rockets attack on a FC camp in Noshki

Frontier Corps FC post and an official vehicle severely damaged in an attack on FC by Baloch freedom fighters.

According to details Baloch freedom fighters attacked and fired several rockets on a FC post in Noshki during the late hours of the evening, resulting in severe damage to the check post and an official FC vehicle parked in the post was completely destroyed.

BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. 15.2.05
Gas pipeline blown up near Muridke

A gas pipeline of SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited) blown up near Kala Shah Kaku in Muridke on Sunday night.

The same pipeline was blown up on the same spot two months back. The place where the blast took place was a crossing of pipeline above a water canal, locals said. They said that the pipeline shattered with a bang causing panic in the nearby localities.

The blast occurred on 8.45 pm at Kala Shah Kaku in Muridke. It was the third time in seven months that this pipeline was blown up. A local, Imran said that the blast could be more dangerous had the gas caught fire because it occurred near Ittehad Chemical Factory, a Chlorine producing unit.

K.W Shariq, GM Transmission said that the incident was the result of a sabotage activity, and that the same line was targeted some two months back. 

He said that supply to the consumers was suspended. He said that repair work was started immediately and it would be restored till Monday morning. He said that the company was taking steps to safe guard sensitive installations. 

Mean while spokesman of BLA called from an unknown place and claimed responsibility for the attack. 14.2.05
Wapda installations, Microwave station and train lines attacked

A microwave station of PTCL was hit by a rocket, in Galungor area of Nushki district, disrupting the telephonic links of three districts, officials said on Tuesday. Two powerful bomb blasts were also reported in other parts of the province.

The rocket damaged the microwave system of PTCL, disrupting the telephonic links of three districts-Nushki, Chaghai and Kharan-to the rest of the country.

Separately, the tower of Och-Sibi circuit of Wapda was blown up by unknown persons on the same morning near Bakhtiarabad area of Balochistan. A powerful bomb near the Och-Sibi circuit number-2, which exploded, damaging the power supply tower.

Talking to The News, a spokesman for the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) said one of the tower of Och-Sibi circuit number-2 was partially damaged in the explosion. He said the explosion did not disrupt the power supply to the area.

Also, a powerful bomb exploded near the boundary wall of the Frontier Corps (FC) FC’s mess base camp in Nushki district. However, no loss of life was reported in the explosion. The explosive device went off and created a crater. On the same afternoon, the officials of Pakistan Railways in Sukkur and Sibi said that the station master of Damboli had heard two powerful explosions in the area.

Soon after the information, the Quetta and Rawalpindi bound passenger trains were stopped in Sibi and Bailpat. The police and law-enforcement agencies along with the railway staff started patrolling near the railway track in Bakhtiarabad area to trace out the place where the explosions occurred.

Telephone microwave station, railway bridge blown up

The microwave repeater of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) was blown up on Monday in a powerful blast in Barkhan district, while two explosions rocked Quetta but caused no loss of life.

PTCL officials told The News that the microwave repeater was blown up in the wee hours of Monday by heavy explosive material planted by unknown persons on the Mazar mountain. The explosion blew the repeater into pieces, disconnecting the telephonic link of Barkhan district with the rest of the country.

A PTCL spokesman in Quetta said the digital telephone exchanges of Rakhni, Barkhan, Eshani and Narkot Tehsils of the Barkhan district had stopped working. The repair work or installation of a new repeater would be undertaken shortly, he said.

A senior official of Levies force said unknown armed men attacked the control room of the PTCL with automatic weapons and made the PTCL staff hostage for over an hour. Later, the unidentified armed men blew up the repeater and fled, he added. In Quetta a powerful bomb exploded on Sabzal Road, but did not cause as any casualty. Separately, unknown armed men fired a rocket in Nuwan Killi locality on the Quetta Airport Road.

Meanwhile, the railway track was blown up in Damboli area in Sibi district late on Monday night. Railways officials said unknown persons planted four powerful bomb devices under a bridge near the railway track in Damboli area, which severely damaged the bridge and ripped through several feet of track. 

Baloch Peoples Liberation Front BPLF claimed responsibilities for the attack in Barkan and Baloch Liberation Army BLA claimed responsibilities for the attacks in Quetta and Sibi. 8.2.05
Gas pipeline, rail track blown up 

Unidentified persons blew up a gas pipeline in Punjab and a railway track in Balochistan on Saturday. 

Gas supply to several cities in southern Punjab and a power generation plant was suspended following an explosion in the main pipeline originating from Dhodak gas and oil fields in Taunsa, 90km from D.G. Khan, on Saturday night. 

The blast occurred at 8.30pm at Mangrotha East. It suspended gas supply to Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Addu, Taunsa Sharif and KAPCO power plant. He said that gas supply from the plant had been suspended. 

It is the third blast in DG Khan during the last week. In the earlier two blasts, railway track was damaged in Shadan Lund and Kot Chhutta. 

DG Khan and Rajanpur districts, it may added, are situated along the troubled Kohlu and Dera Bugti areas of Balochistan. 

According to our reporter in Quetta, the railway track linking Quetta with Zahidan was blown up near Zangiabad area of the Chaghai district on Saturday night. 

Unknown persons had planted a bomb at the railway track which exploded at around 8.50pm, official sources said from Nushki. 

"Around two and half feet long railway track was blown up by the powerful blast," the sources said. No causality was reported. This was the second blast on this section during the last 48 hours. 

On Thursday, unidentified people had blown up the same track near Wali Khan Village in Mastung district. Baloch Liberation Army BLA claimed responsibility for the attacks. 6.2.05
Six blasts rocked Pakistan

Pakistan was rocked by six bombs and landmine blasts targeting key transport, communications and power facilities Thursday, causing widespread damage and blowing off a soldier's foot.

Five of the explosions were in the restive southwest province of Balochistan, which is in the throes of an intensifying rebellion by Nationalist demanding their right of self-determination.

Two railway lines were ripped up in the attacks, including the main line between Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, and Zahidan in neighbouring Iran.

The track was blown up at Mustung, a town some 56 kilometers (34 miles) southeast of Quetta, a railway control room official told on condition of anonymity. Officials were inspecting the damage, he added.

Hours earlier a powerful bomb ripped through the wall of a police station in the same town without causing any injuries, local police chief Salim Lehri said.

In the other rail blast a passenger train escaped a possible accident when a pilot engine found part of the track missing at Dera Ghazi Khan, 90 kilometres west of the central city of Multan, in Punjab province.

A four-feet stretch had been blown up by a bomb leaving a two-feet deep crater and halting the Chiltan express travelling from Quetta to the northern city of Rawalpindi, railway police said.

Authorities started running the pilot engines to check rail routes last month after a series of train bombings in Balochistan. All night services in the province were also halted in January.

In Kohlu, also in Balochistan and some 340 kilometres southeast of Quetta, militants blew up two microwave telephone masts, officials said. As security personnel escorted telephone officials to repair the damage they were hit by a landmine blast, leaving a low-ranking soldier seriously injured, an official of the paramilitary Frontier Corps official in Quetta confirmed.

Security sources said the injured man lost his foot in the blast. Meanwhile, multiple blasts destroyed an electricity transmission line tower in Naushki area, some 120 kilometres away from Quetta, Gibreel Khan, the spokesman of Quetta Electric Supply Company told.

Almost whole of Balochistan, including Quetta, plunged into darkness on Tuesday night when the third main 220 KV electric supply line was blown up in Sibi.

Unknown armed men planted heavy explosive material near the power supply circuit in Mithri Pirak area of Sibi, which exploded around 9:15pm.

Officials of Quetta Electric Supply Company told The News that two out of three main power supply circuit from Guddu transmission line had already been blown up by unidentified armed men on January 29. Soon after the incident, power supply to over 15 districts of the province disconnected.

However, the temporarily power supply has been restored for Quetta and its outskirts from Habibullah Power Plant around 11:40pm.

To restore complete supply, the Qesco officials said that they had to make alternative arrangements from DG Khan to Sakhi Sarwas via Rakhni, Mekhter, Lora Lai, Qilla Saifullah and Quetta.

"The electricity tower was blown up in Sibi and power supply to two-thirds of the province has been cut off," a senior provincial official said. "This was the last power supply line after two power transmission lines were blown up earlier this month and now we have no means to supply power," an official from the government’s Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) said. "It will take some time before we can repair the damage," the official added.

Meanwhile, two successive powerful bomb blasts here on Tuesday killed an alleged bomber and injured four officials of the Pakistan Railways (PR).

In the first explosion, the Rawalpindi-bound 39-Down Jaffar Khan Express escaped a major disaster, while in the second blast an alleged bomber became the victim.

The first explosion occurred at around 12:40 pm at Sariab Road near overhead bridge when Jaffar Khan Express was passing through. A bogie of the train was partially damaged in the explosion, railways officials told The News.

The railways police said that the bomb was a remote-controlled device, planted near the railway track. "As soon as the train reached the site, the bomb went off, smashing windowpanes of one of the bogies and injuring four persons," Quetta DIG Rafi Pervez Bhatti told The News. "Consequently, the driver stopped the train for half an hour."

The injured were identified as Sub Inspector Abdul Rehman, conductor guard Jehanzeb, Special Ticket Examiner Muhammad Afzal and an attendant Shahid Iqbal.

Around 1:00 pm, another explosion rocked the busy Arts School Road. One person, who was stated to be the alleged bomber, died in the explosion. The Quetta DIG said that the bomber was killed while planting the device in a motorcycle. He identified the alleged bomber as Behar Khan, a schoolteacher in Dera Bugti, who was wanted by the police in many cases.

The blast smashed the windowpanes of nearby buildings and tore the alleged bomber into pieces as well as the motorcycle, on which the bomb was being planted.

Agencies add: The Balochistan Liberation Army immediately claimed responsibility in a message telephoned to local newspapers. The BLA also claimed responsibility of a bomb blast at a railway track in Quetta.

Two bomb explosions rock Quetta

Two bombs exploded in and around Quetta on Sunday, officials said, the latest in a series of attacks that have targeted government installations and security forces in the region. No injuries were reported. 

A bomb hidden in a plastic shopping bag went off near a park fence in a northern neighbourhood of Quetta, said Pervez Rafi Bhatti, the city’s police chief. The second bomb exploded near a roadside restaurant in Kuchlak, a small town about 20 kilometres north of Quetta, damaging a trolley parked nearby, Bhatti said. 

No injuries were reported in the blasts. Elsewhere in the province, security forces seized a cache of arms and munitions in a dry stream in Naukundi, said Lt Col Rizwan Malik. No one was arrested and it was not known who dumped the cache there, Malik said.

BLA claims responsibility for pipeline blast in Head Baloki 

Main gas pipeline supplying gas to Punjab blown up near Baloki in Punjab. Gas supply to industrial units in Lahore, Kasur, Pattoki, Sahiwal and Multan remained suspended on the second day on Saturday. 

Taking precautionary measures against attacks, the SNGPL on Saturday directed its operational wing to lay all over ground gas pipeline crossings underground in Punjab, Azam Khan, the SNGPL deputy-managing director, told.

He said gas supply to industrial units would be restored today (Sunday) evening or on Monday. Sources said the SNGPL lost Rs 7.5 million due to Friday’s attack on the pipeline. He said the company had hired the services of the Army, the Rangers and the FC to guard pipelines but it was difficult to protect the 6,000-kilometre main line and 38,000-km distribution lines.

Several rockets hit FC check post in Kohlu

a dozen  rockets fired on a Frontier Corps check post in Kohlu. No fatality but extensive damages reported. 

According to local sources, late Sunday night Baloch freedom fighters launched an attack on FC check post firing at least a dozen rockets and several hundred rounds of automatic guns. 

The attack continued for about an hour in which heavy weaponry was used causing severe damage to the FC post and nearby government buildings. When asked the officials about the details of the attack they declined to comment. 30.1.05
Four power supply towers blown up in Naseerabad

Almost the whole of Balochistan, including the provincial capital, plunged into darkness on Saturday evening for over one-and-half hour when four power supply poles of 220 KV lines were blown up near Naseerabad district.

Reports reaching here from Naseerabad said that unknown persons planted heavy explosive material near the power supply poles in the Chahtar area of Naseerabad which exploded with a big bang, blowing up the poles. Consequently, power supply to over 15 districts of Balochistan and some parts of Sindh was disrupted.

The power supply was suspended after the explosions around 7.15pm. An official of the Quetta Electric Supply Corporation (Qesco).

The power supply was restored to Quetta around 8.40pm. However, over 15 districts of the province - including Khuzdar, Kalat, Mastung, Pishin and Ziarat - were in complete darkness till the filing of this report.

The Qesco official added that the power supply to the remaining parts of the province would be restored as soon as the damaged poles were repaired. Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. And warned the public not to use the train service because this will be their next target. 30.1.05
Gas to Punjab suspended as blast destroys pipeline

Unidentified people blue up a gas pipeline to Lahore late on Friday, suspending gas to more than half of the city and other parts of Punjab late on Friday. 

Preliminary reports confirmed that a bomb had destroyed the pipeline coming from Multan and passing through the Baloki-Sulemanki Link Canal.

A bomb planted beside a 18 inches in diameter pipeline which blown up near Head Baloki, cutting of gas to the southern part of Lahore, Changa Manga, Pattoki, Kasur and Manga Mandi. 

Gas from Multan was stopped and gas officials rushed to the scene and started repairing the damage, sources said, adding that officials of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited were trying to restore gas to Lahore via the pipeline from Shahdara. 29.1.05
Rockets and Bomb attacks Quetta, Sibi, Kohlu, Dhadar, Mashkaff 

Three rockets and several bomb blasts on Wednesday night in Quetta, Sibi, Dhadar, Mashkaff and other parts of Balochistan from unknown locations, but no loss of was reported. 

Police sources in Quetta confirmed that unidentified persons had fired a rocket at 10:20pm, which landed in Askari Park on the airport road run by the cantonment board, Quetta. 

Another rocket was fired in Sibi, and DPO Gul Khan Sasoli told by telephone that a police party was searching the area to find out the actual place, but they were facing difficulty due to darkness. 

The third rocket was fired in Dhadar area, the headquarters of Bolan district. Police official told this reporter by telephone that they had failed to locate the actual place due to darkness. 

Electric tower blown up in Mashkaff near Sibi, electric supply cutoff to Mashkaff and other areas of Balochistan. Another blast near Sibi grid station. Grid station damaged in the blast. Several other incidences from Kohlu, Barkan and other parts of Balochistan also reported but details not known wet.

Sibi train track bombed

A powerful bomb ripped apart a key railway line in Balochistan for the second time in three days, injuring five people, as another blast damaged a government building on Monday.

Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for both of the explosions in Balochistan.

Around three feet of track was ripped up by the blast which happened around 10:00pm near Sibi, 150 kilometres from Quetta, rail officials said.

Five railway engineers who were looking for the site of the blast on the main line between Quetta and Karachi were injured when their trolley derailed on the missing stretch of track.

Deputy railway controller Mohammad Murtaza said the line would be out of action for repairs until at least Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile another bomb exploded at around 5:15pm on Monday in the ministers’ block of the civil secretariat, shattering windows but causing no casualties, police and witnesses said. 

A BLA spokesman, identifying himself as Major Naukaf, called newspaper offices and warned there would be a blast later in the evening near Sibi, without giving an exact location. Authorities were alerted but could not find the bomb before it detonated.

Tribal chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti told Voice of America that he had seen Shujaat on television talking of dialogue with Baloch nationalists, but no dialogue would be possible under “threat and duress”. 25.01.05

The explosion occurred at 5:20 pm in the gallery near the office of provincial minister of sports and environment. The sound of the explosion left the guard of the minister block unconscious.

Railway track blown up in Quetta 

Railway track near Balochistan University in Quetta blown up by unidentified persons on Sunday, cutting off all rail traffic to and from Quetta. 

Officials said that a bomb blast that hit the railway track passing through the university campus, ripped apart train lines and caused a 4 feet deep crater however no casualty was reported. 

In the wake of the incident the rail traffic remained affected all rail traffic coming to and from Quetta was stopped for several hours, the traffic was only restored after the repair work on the track was done.

FC camp attacked in Noshki, damage and casualty reported

A Frontier Corps FC camp attacked in Noshki with rockets, missiles and heavy machineguns. Heavy damages and casualties reported.

According to details, a group of unknown persons attacked a FC camp during late hours of the Tuesday evening at 8.30pm. Several missiles and rockets were fired on the camp resulting in severe damage to it and several FC personnel killed and injured.

Later heavy firing erupted which continued for more then an hour. The attackers escaped unharmed. Baloch Liberation Army BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. 18.1.05
Two bomb explosions in Gwadar

Gwadar city rocked when two powerful bombs went consecutively, damaging nearby buildings and shattering windowpanes of surrounding buildings on Monday night.

The explosions occurred about 15 minutes apart, late Monday night. Explosive devices were planted near Government offices. The explosions were so powerful that the office buildings sustained substantial damage but due to late hours no one was present in the buildings, thus no casualties reported. 

Mr Azad Baloch representative of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) called up from unknown location and claimed responsibility for the attack. He warned the government of more bomb blasts if it continues its heavy-handed policies against Baloch people in Sui, Dera Bugti and other parts of Balochistan.

Mr Baloch added that if any army operation is carried out against the Baloch people, BLA will intensify their attacks and target Military and Government installations all over Balochistan. 

He further added it would cost Punjab dearly, if it carries out any Army operation in Balochistan, it is time Punjab should understand Baloch will no longer sit quietly and witness pillage of Baloch and Balochistan. 18.1.04 
FC check post attacked 4 killed, several injured in Bibi-Nani

Rocket attack on Frontier Corps FC check-post 4 killed and several injured. Mean while in another incidence high-tension electric tower blow-up in Bibi-Nani.

According to details, Heavy automatic gunfire and a dozen explosions were heard when a FC check-post was attacked near Bibi-Nani late Monday night. the attack continued for an hour in which rocket propelled grenades and automatic machineguns were used by the attackers.

Several rockets were fired on FC post in Bibi-Nani, at least six rockets hit the post, which resulted in heavy damages to the check-post and killed 4 FC personnel and injuring several other exact number of casualties are unknown number. When asked the officials about the details of the attack they declined to give details.

Some unknown persons planted a bomb near the house of union counsel Nazim Mach chodhri Mohammad Maqbool. Nearby buildings also received damages the incident happened on Friday night around 10:00 pm. 

According to details a bomb planted near the house of Union Counsel Nazim Mach Chodhri Mohammad Maqbool, exploded with a big bang on Friday night. The boundary wall of the Nazim’s house destroyed and the buildings also received damages but no loss of life has reported.

6 rockets hit FC check post in Kohlu

Baloch Freedom Fighters fired rockets on the check post of Frontier Core in district Kohlu on Saturday here but managed to escape after counter firing. 

In District Kohlu, Baloch Freedom Fighters attacked a FC check post and fired six rockets and fired heavy machine guns on the check post from the hills of Jandran.

The check post sustained severe damage and several FC personnel injured. The injured were shifted to Multan military hospital. Baloch Freedom Fighters managed to flee from the scene unharmed. 15.1.05
Gun battle leaves two dead in Sui 

At least two people, including a woman, were killed and seven others injured, two of them seriously, in heavy gunfire between armed men and law-enforcement personnel in Sui on Monday. 

The heavy fighting that started at 11:30pm on Sunday night continued till 10am on Monday. "Hundreds of rockets and mortar shells were fired during 11 hours of heavy gun battle," sources in Sui told Dawn by telephone, and added that the injured also included a soldier of the levy force who received bullet injuries. 

"Though rocket and mortar shell firing stopped in the morning, firing with light weapons continued throughout the day in Sui," official sources said, and added that electricity and water supply was suspended as electricity poles, cables and water supply lines were hit by rockets. 

Heavy fighting erupted late night when armed men launched an attack on the positions of Frontier Corps and Defence Security Guards (DSG) in the Sui area. The security forces retaliated and targeted the positions of the armed men with rockets and mortar shells, sources said. 

"The people of Sui could not sleep the whole night as the township was rocking with the heavy explosions of rockets and mortar shells," a police officer said while confirming two deaths in the gun battle. 

A large number of rockets and mortar shells landed and exploded in different residential colonies damaging many houses and killing animals in large numbers. "Dozens of houses and shops were damaged in different residential colonies," an officer of the local administration confirmed, and said that the administration was collecting detailed information. 

The PPL also claimed heavy losses inside its fenced area where several rockets and mortar shells landed and exploded. The house of the acting manager was hit by a rocket. 

The junior executive mess and a Wapda installation plant were also hit setting both on fire. The electricity supply was also disrupted in the gas field, a PPL spokesman said. 

All shops and bazaars remained closed for the fourth consecutive day due to firing and exchange of rockets between armed men and law-enforcement personnel, while the town of Sui and its gas field was cut off from the rest of the country as a result of continuous fighting. 

The people were facing great difficulties as both those injured in the rocket explosions as well as the sick could not be taken to hospitals. No transport was available in Sui for reaching safer places. 

The woman killed in the firing was identified as Mrs Sabzo while the man, a resident of the NWFP, was identified as Asmatullah Wazir. He had been running a provision store in Bugti Colony. He was killed in the crossfire while he was headed towards his store in the morning. 

However, no gas pipeline or other installation was damaged in the firing, the acting manager of PPL Sui Plant, Mr. Perveiz, told local reporters in Sui on Monday. The gas supply from Sui for the rest of the country continued without any disruptions, while the pipeline that had been damaged in the fighting on Friday and Saturday nights was repaired and the gas supply to the Guddo Thermal Power Plant was restored. 

Meanwhile, the elders of the Bugti tribe, including Wadera Qamaruddin (Chief of Kalpar), Wadera Ali Bakhsh Mondrani and Wadera Ali Mohammad, strongly condemned the firing of rockets and mortar shells on the residential areas of Sui as a result of which some people were killed and many injured. 

Speaking at a press conference in Sui on Monday, they said that the personnel of Frontier Corps and Defence Security Guards were targeting civilian settlements by firing rockets and mortar shells. "At least eight people have been killed so far and around 28 injured during the last three days due to firing rockets on the residential areas of Sui," they said. 

They said that people suffered losses worth millions of rupees during the last three days as dozens of houses and vehicles had been destroyed and many animals had been killed in the rocket explosions. 

They said that the security forces had sealed Sui town in its entirety and had imposed an unannounced curfew that was creating problems for the people, including not being able to take the injured to hospitals of other cities for treatment. They alleged that the PPL doctors were not treating the relatives of the labourers working with the company. 

The Bugti elders also criticized the government for not arresting the officials of the DSG who were involved in criminally assaulting a lady doctor. They demanded that the accused should be arrested without further delay. Dawn.com 11.1.05 
Another major gas pipeline blown up in Sui

A gas pipeline was blown up when heavy firing resumed between BLA and FC fighters in Sui on Saturday, suspending supply to the Guddu Thermal Power Station.

Sources said the 20-inch wide gas pipeline was blown up in heavy shooting by unidentified people. Police said that the fire was controlled and gas supply was suspended from Sui. 

Earlier, a gas pipeline was also destroyed in an attack and gas supply was suspended to southern Sindh till Saturday morning. Sources said the pipeline was attacked in retaliation for the alleged gang rape of a female doctor in Sui. Azad Baloch, member of the Baloch Liberation Front, claimed responsibility of Saturday’s attack.

On Friday, three people including two children, and a woman were killed when FC started indiscriminate firing of the residence of Sui. One FC personnel killed in attack by BLF fighters on gas installations in Sui. 9.1.05 
Once again police station and FC quarter under rocket attack in Quetta

Once again some Baloch Freedom Fighters attacked Shalkot police station and Frontier Corps FC quarter with the rockets in Quetta on 7:30 pm Saturday evening.

According to details, two rockets were fired from near by mountains on the Shalkot police station and Frontier Corps quarter. One rocket hit the Garage building behind the Shalkot police station where a Frontier Corps’s platoon lives. The local people believe heavy losses of life and property, the side wall of the building collapsed. 

Another rocket landed very close to the police station, the building received damages. In a similar attack, the mentioned police station and FC quarter were targeted just last Wednesday night. 9.1.05

Baloch freedom fighters attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) check post in Kohlu from Pir Shah Mehmood Mountains Saturday night. 

According to details, a FC check post sustained severe damage in a rocket attack, when Baloch freedom fighters attacked the Jandran FC check post, firing at least 20 rockets from the Pir shah Mehmood Mountains. Fir continued for a hour later the attackers managed to escape unharmed, no casualties confirmed. 8.1.05
Rocket attack destroys gas pipeline in Sui

Unidentified people blew up a gas pipeline in Sui late on Friday and exchanged fire with security personnel in the same area.

The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) claimed the attack, saying it was in reaction to the gang-rape of a female doctor in Sui.

Police said a gas pipeline was destroyed after a rocket hit it and heavy gunfire was heard later. The pipeline caught fire and flames were seen shooting up from far away. Gas field officials suspended the gas supply and were reported to have controlled the fire. It was not known whether gas to any area was suspended. Sources said the pipeline was hit near the gas well, where pipes led to the compression plant and then to the gas purification plant. Therefore, the attack might not affect gas supply, they added.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Karim said security personnel and the Frontier Corps retaliated with heavy weapons and repulsed the attack. The firing started at around 8:40pm and continued till 9:25pm. It later resumed at 10:35pm and continued till 11:45pm. Sources said several children and one woman were reportedly injured when security personnel shot at a residential area, but the reports were not confirmed.

Police said they could only hear gunshots and mortar fire and could see the pipeline engulfed by flames from their station. According to resources, some unknown attackers hurled two rockets from the Chiltan Mountains to the Shalkot police station and on FC quarter .One rocket hit the duty cabin on the first floor. The cabin destroyed.

The second rocket landed in a Garage where a FC (Frontier Corps) platoon lives next to the police station. Two police spy including a clerk seriously injured. The injured persons admitted to the CMH (Combined Military Hospital) in Quetta Cantt.

Baloch Freedom Fighters attacked two-check post of Ranger’s near Balochistan border with Sindh on Wednesday.

According to resources Baloch Freedom Fighters launched attack on Ranger’s post near Sindh Balochistan. One check post completely destroyed. 

The second post was under construction also received damages. Two personnel seriously in injured. The injured personnel were flown to hospital.

FC convoy attack near Dera Bugti 2 killed and three injured

Some unknown assailants attacked with rockets on a FC convoy near Sanjo Safari in Sui on Monday.

According to details, the FC convoy with dignitaries after visiting a check post when the convoy reached near Sanjo Safari in Sui. Some unknown persons attacked with rockets and opened indiscriminate firing in results two personnel including an officer of FC killed and three personnel seriously injured. 

The dead bodies were referred to their native cities in Punjab and NWFP (North West Frontier Province). The injured persons were flown to Multan hospital after the first add in Sui hospital. One injured personnel in a serious condition. 

The attackers manage to escape after the attack. BLA (Baloch Liberation Army) claimed the responsibility for the attack. 4.1.05

A bomb exploded and three rockets struck sites in Quetta while two bombs exploded in Kalat on Monday. No loss of life was reported. The rockets were fired at a highway police checkpoint in suburban Quetta near Hazaar Ganji at about 11:00pm. 

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervez Rafi Bhatti said the rockets were fired from an unidentified location and caused no casualties as they missed their target. Earlier, a bomb exploded behind the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) building in Quetta at about 8:00pm. 

Meanwhile, two bombs exploded in Kalat between 8:00pm and 9:00pm. A district government official said the first bomb exploded near a Frontier Corps camp and the second exploded near the district coordination officer’s office after 45 minutes. Both explosions created panic among people and police has registered cases and is investigating. 

The CCPO said the attacks were in reaction to the 15 arrests made by police in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the Meezan Chowk bomb attack last month that left 11 people including two soldiers dead and scores injured. He said police had also recently arrested five suspects from a house of a Marri chieftain. Azizullah Khan 4.1.05

According to details a powerful explosion rocked FC camp in Turbat in late hours of the night. The explosion occurred at an under construction market in FC camp near Asghar Gate Turbat around 12.43 am Saturday-Sunday night. 

The explosion was so powerful that it shook the city. Explosion caused no casualty but windowpanes of nearby buildings were smashed. 

After the explosion security has been mounted in the area. A probe was underway but no arrests were reported. Baloch Liberation Army BLA claimed responsibility for the attack. 3.1.05
