Protests against violation of Human
rights
Women and children, under the auspices of the Human Rights Commission of
Pakistan, on Sunday took out a procession against extra-judicial
killings, illegal arrests of political workers and abduction of
children.
Protesters assembled outside the press club where speakers called upon
the government to stop human rights violations in Balochistan.
HRCP (Balochistan chapter) chairperson Zahoor Ahmed Shahwani, Habib
Jalib (BNP-M), Amanullah Kanrani (JWP), Haji Nazimuddin Kakar (ANP), Ali
Asghar release committee chairman Nasrullah, Hafiza Karim and Fateh
Marri addressed the gathering.
Mr Shahwani said that political workers were tortured in ATF sub-jail
and extra-constitutional methods were adopted to suppress the
fundamental and democratic rights of people.
He said that children’s kidnapping in the city had become a routine
matter and police was playing a role of silent spectator.
He said that Ali Asghar, Saeedur Rehman, Munir Ahmed Mengal, Misri Khan
and hundreds of others were missing. Children of Ali Asghar and Saeedur
Rehman had set up hunger strike camps for many months but the government
had not taken notice of the protest.
Mr Kanrani alleged that the federal government’s extra-constitutional
methods had forced women and children to take to the streets and protest
against the excesses.
Mr Jalib accused the government of arresting thousands of innocent
Baloch youths, whereas law enforcement agencies were torturing
detainees.
Hafiza Karim said that her brother Munir Mengal was arrested at Karachi
airport while coming from Bahrain and said that if Munir had committed
any crime then he should have been produced before the court to prove
charges.
Fateh Khan Marri, nephew of Misri Khan Marri, said that his uncle was
arrested by intelligence agencies and said that he was a sick person.
