Doctor abducted by ISI, family seeks human rights groups’ help

Family members of a doctor, who allegedly disappeared from Turbat in mid November, urged human rights organizations and political parties on Saturday to help recover his brother.

Blaming an intelligence agency for the disappearance of Dr Hanif Baloch, his brother Ghani Sharif Baloch said his brother was taken into custody on Nov 18, 2005 from the Turbat bazaar. He said that his mother and other members of the family had been baffled by his brother’s disappearance, adding that the police had flatly refused to lodge an FIR against the said government agency.

Mr Ghani said that his brother had been deputed as a medical officer in a hospital in Zarinbag Dasht in the Kech district.

He said that the intelligence agency had warned his family of dire consequences if they did not maintain silence over the issue. He urged human rights organizations to raise voice against government excesses and violation of fundamental rights to protect their lives from the intelligence agency. 20.2.06
